I was curious what the numbers are for Eclipse usage. Here’s some stuff I found:

“In a recent [2004] survey, research company Evans Data found that usage of Eclipse among North American developers grew 90 percent last year.”
“A poll of US and European companies by analyst house Forrester Research found that more than 44% were using Eclipse in some capacity, with that figure rising to as much as 75% among those using the Java programming language.” (Dec. 2005)- The Bottom-up Spread: “The [same Forrester] study found that Eclipse had jumped less than 2% to more than 8% as the primary tool provider for IT shops in just six months since a November 2004 survey looking into usage patterns. Of those using Eclipse in any fashion, 44% said it was being done on an unofficial or pilot basis.”

I sometimes also refer to the SD Times survey from Jan. 1 2005. Unfortunately it is a large pdf but on page 5 it has market share of different Java IDEs. http://www.sdtimes.com/download/images/SDTimes117.pdf
