Laptop as a Verb

Laptop Ladies

Here is a suggestion for a new way to use the word “laptop”: when two or more people are “hanging out” and using their laptops. Bonus points when they IM with each other and they’re sitting within feet of each other.

Call it “sick,” but I’m sure there were plenty of people who thought using the phone was lame instead of writing a letter or walking down the street. And now the phone is the thing of Mother’s Day Hallmark commercials.

  1. It’s important that everyone knows that Michael came up with this post after a discussion that we were having about whether or not the last season of Six Feet Under was out on DVD. Michael was on his computer, while I was watching a KLRU special on Austin. I went to get my own computer to look up Six Feet Under on Netflix and Michael said, “Oh, are we going to be ‘laptopping’?”

Just in case you thought the new term is GENIUS, I thought it to be my duty to give you the origin.

  5. not that i havent laptopped, because, man, i HAVE! i tell you what.. but yesterday i did the same thing with a cell phone. i had a conversation with kendra, who was on her way to my house in her car (she lives on the same block as me, for those that dont know) and we continued talking on our cell phones as she sat 15 feet away from me. what a sad, sad, sad, sad, sad world.
